Facial Reconstructive Surgery at Pure Facial Aesthetics – Serving North York, Brampton, Toronto, and Surrounding Areas

Reconstructive surgical procedures are the most gratifying for Dr. Robert Mounsey to perform. Such procedures not only restore patients’ dignity and self-esteem, but also require both technical skill and artistic talent on our surgeon’s part. Located near Toronto, North York, and Brampton, our practice prides itself on achieving exceptional results with facial reconstructive surgery. We will help you make the most of your insurance and provide you with care of only the highest standard.

Scar Revision

The appearance of facial scars can be greatly improved with scar revision at our Toronto-area practice. In scar revision, Dr. Mounsey makes a clean incision in the skin, removes the scar, and closes the incision with tiny stitches designed to leave a thinner and less noticeable scar behind. Dr. Mounsey may opt to reposition the scar so that it is hidden in the natural creases of the skin, where it will be less noticeable.

Excision of Facial Tumors and Flap Reconstruction

Dr. Mounsey is experienced in performing many facial reconstructive surgery procedures, including facial tumor excision, at his practice serving North York, Brampton, and Toronto. The procedure will vary depending on the size of the tumor and other factors. In some cases, flap reconstruction is used to achieve the best results. With flap reconstruction, tissue is moved from another part of the body to the facial tumor site. This tissue consists of skin along with the underlying fat, blood vessels, and occasionally muscle. Once the skin is moved, the blood supply will either remain attached to the donor site or be reattached to blood vessels at the new site.

Ear Reconstruction

Underdeveloped or deformed ears, common amongst people with hemifacial microsomia, microtia, or Treacher-Collins syndrome, can be reconstructed at Pure Facial Aesthetics. In this procedure, collagen is harvested from elsewhere on the body, and then reformed and carefully attached to the ear. Although the procedure is somewhat complex and involves a great deal of artistry on the surgeon’s part, Dr. Mounsey is able to achieve remarkably natural-looking ear reconstruction results. Dr. Mounsey also offers otoplasty for those patients who would simply like their ears to be angled back more closely to the head or would like to reduce the size of their ears.

Complex Nasal Reconstruction

Tumor resection, trauma, and a number of disorders can cause nasal deformities, and many of these can be addressed surgically at Pure Facial Aesthetics. Flap tissue (skin and its underlying fat, blood vessels, and sometimes muscle) can be taken from the forehead or another area of the body and used to reconstruct the nose. Bone grafts and cartilage grafts may also be necessary to restore ideal aesthetics and function to the nose. Dr. Mounsey is experienced in performing both basic rhinoplasty and complex nasal reconstruction at his practice.
